Event #72: Mixed No-Limit Hold’em; Pot-Limit Omaha (8-Handed)

The music producer Motoyoshi Okamura just won his first bracelet yesterday by beating a 846 entries field in the $1,500 event. Okamura is quite new to the game as he started playing for just over a year, but the Japanese already seems quite successful at it as he also finished 2nd in a $10k Aria High Roller a week ago for $122k.

“Winning the bracelet has been a dream of mine,” said Okamura after winning. This is my first time playing the WSOP, and I will surely be back next time.”

Event #67: MAIN EVENT No-Limit Hold’em World Championship

We’re getting closer and closer from knowing who will make our final table as 36 players are left, and all will leave with at least $198k more in their pockets.

Currently leading with a stack of 29M is Hye Park, coming from Holmdel, New Jersey. He has total live earnings of $471k, his best performance being a $165k cash in a $1,600 event in Vegas three years ago.

Previous chip leaders Koray Aldemir and Ramon Colillas still occupy some top spots as they are 5th and 7th both with more than 18M in chips.

Our top remaining name is Chance Kornuth who sits with the 11th stack and 13M as we unfortunately lost Stephen Chidwick (89th) and Nick Petrangelo (45th) during day 6.

Event #73: Seven Card Stud Hi-Lo 8 or Better Championship

137 entries have been registered for the $10k championship and $352k will go to the winner. Sixteen are left and lead by Brian Hastings but the competition will be hard as many top pros are still there in the names of Josh Arieh (4th), Scott Seiver (6th), Erik Seidel (7th) and Shaun Deeb (14th).

Event #68: LITTLE ONE FOR ONE DROP No-Limit Hold’em

Scott Ball makes the double by winning the $1,111 Little One for One Drop! What a series for the player who beat Michael Shanahan heads-up (245k), Sorel Mizzi finishing 3rd (186k): the player made 9 cashes this year, including two wins and cash in the $50k PPC.

And what a year for him: Having live cashes since 2016, he wrote more lines on his Hendon Mob in 2021 than all the other years combined, going from roughly $60k to more than a million in just a few weeks!

“I told my friends here that before the start I feel like this isn’t the real-life” declared Ball. “It’s like a simulation to be heads up again for a bracelet in like two weeks. I’ve just worked so hard to get better at No-Limit this past year so when it peeled off and I won another one it just didn’t feel like reality. It feels like I’m dreaming and I’m going to wake up tomorrow and be like dang I can’t wait to live that one day.”

Event #71: BOUNTY Pot-Limit Omaha 8-Handed

The $1,500 event bracelet went to Mourad Amokrane from France, who earned $132,844 by beating a field of 860 players, including Jeff Gross who finished 8th.

“I have no words. I look at all the poker shows on TV. I know all the famous players and getting a WSOP bracelet is something unbelievable for me. I don’t realize it”, he said.

Amokrane is an optician, selling eyeglasses in the suburbs of Paris, his biggest score until then was $5,972 in 2016. “I’m not a professional player. I have a daily job and going to Vegas is my way to relax and enjoy my hobby”.

Event #67: MAIN EVENT No-Limit Hold’em World Championship

Less than a hundred remain in the Main Event now, and each of them will go home will at least $59,000.

It is now the German Koray Aldemir who’s the chip leader with a stack of 14M. Aldemir is a serious candidate for the win with his $12M in live earnings and a top performance of $2.1M when he finished 3rd of the $111,111 High Roller in 2016.

He’s closely followed by Ramon Colillas (12M), our chip leader from yesterday. Our well-known top pro list has unfortunately dried up quite a bit as we’re only left with Chance Kornuth (20th, 5,9M), Stephen Chidwick (48th, 3.7M) and Nick Petrangelo (92nd, 1M).

Event #69: Seven Card Stud Hi-Lo 8 or Better

Mixed game grinder Jermaine Reid became the winner of the $1,500 event late in the night and pocketed $113,459. Until then, the player did not have 5 figures despite having a few dozens cashes on his profile so this win is a pretty big deal for the player.

“It means a lot. It is something I set out to do this year,” Reid told after winning. “I really didn’t think I would accomplish it. It was just a stretch goal. So I’m very, very surprised I actually got it. It feels amazing. The money is irrelevant. The bracelet is everything.”

Jermaine managed to beat a high level final table and denied several bracelet holders from the win, including John Monnette (4th), Carol Fuchs (6th) and John Racener (8th).

Event #67: MAIN EVENT No-Limit Hold’em World Championship

We lost more than two thirds of the field yesterday as we went from 1,000 players to now 292. All the remaining players will now win $33,900 or more.

In the lead is the Spanish Ramon Colillas with 5M chips. Ramon is the winner of the $25k PSPC PokerStars Players Championship where he won a cute $5,1M. The only way to beat this exceptional score for him is by winning the tournament this year.

Now cruising in the tournament is Stephen Chidwick with the 4th stack and 4,3M. Also worth noting are Chance Kornuth (18th, 2,7M), Jason Koon (95th, 1,3M), 2016 Main Event winner Qui Nguyen (110th, 1,1M), Nick Petrangelo (137th, 966k), Chris Moneymaker (232nd, 621k), Matt Berkey (237th, 621k) and Marle Spragg (282nd, 302k).

Event #68: LITTLE ONE FOR ONE DROP No-Limit Hold’em

Only 29 remain and Michael Shanahan has took the lead. Winner of the 6-Handed $5,000 Scott Ball still have a chance to win a second bracelet this year as he’s third in chips such as Sorel Mizzi who maintained a good stack yesterday and will come back 11th.

Many tournaments are now underway so we’ll keep a close eye on the results!

Event #67: MAIN EVENT No-Limit Hold’em World Championship

The bubble popped a few minutes ago in the Main Event, leaving us with 1000 players making the money all securing a $15k prize.

After shoving with aces preflop, Kevin Campbell is our heartbroken bubble boy this year, he got cracked by the A9 of Chris Alafogiannis who made trips of the river.

Jessica Cai will return for day 4 today with the chip lead and a stack close to 1,8M. Chris Moneymaker briefly took the chip lead today and still maintained one of the most healthy stack with 1,4M, currently sitting in 9th place.

A great day for Stephen Chidwick who entered the top 200 and is now 16th (1,2M). Also in great position are Nick Petrangelo (53rd, 860k), Chance Kornuth (66th, 780k), JJ Liu (71st, 765k), Matt Glantz (116th, 580k), Jason Koon (118th, 574k) and Mike Matusow (144th, 510k).

Event #68: LITTLE ONE FOR ONE DROP No-Limit Hold’em

310 players are still fighting in the $1,111 event and $396,445 will be awarded to the winner. Marouane Lamharzi Alaoui is the chipleader at this point, followed by Sorel Mizzi (4th), Joseph Cheong (9th) and Scott Ball (16th).

Event #69: Seven Card Stud Hi-Lo 8 or Better

In the $1,500 event 372 players took the starting line and 20 are left, battling for a $113,459 top prize. Esther Taylor-Brady is currently chip leading, ahead of John Monnette looking for a fifth bracelet. John Racener (4th) and Carol Fuchs (6th) are also eying on a new final table.

Event #67: MAIN EVENT No-Limit Hold’em World Championship

6,650 players have took their chance in this year’s main event, generating a prizepool of $62,011,250 and the winner will take home $8M.

Conrad De Armas is the current chip leader with a stack of 744,000. Also having a very healthy stack are Matt Glantz (7th, 580k) and Chris Moneymaker (11th, 531k).

Many more known players will return, here are the one we can find in the top 200: Liv Boeree (45th, 289k), Barry Greenstein (61st, 268k), Dennis Phillips (3rd in 2008 edition for $4.5M, 133rd, 194k), JC Tran (140th, 190k) and Michael Mizrachi (172th, 171k).

2362 players will return for day 3 today.

Event #68: LITTLE ONE FOR ONE DROP No-Limit Hold’em

With three days one in, the $1,111 event cumulated 1,823 entries and now 710 remain for day 2. South Korean Charles Tae Hoon Lee is leading the debates, closely followed by Brian Rast (3rd) and Scott Ball (10th). The prizes are yet to be announced.
