Event #3. $500 Big 50 :

The largest live tournament ever with 28,371 entries has come to an end with Femi Fashakin as the champion, winning $1,147,499 and his first WSOP bracelet. Fashakin had almost $60,000 in cashes before this amazing win that made him a millionaire. Before that, it took him almost seven hours of play on the final day to defeat Paul Cullen heads-up. The first words he said after winning: “Overwhelmed, it’s really amazing, super excited. I can’t even describe it, but I’m also grateful, and it’s a humbling experience”.

7 tournaments were still in play yesterday (Event #14 to Event #20) here in Vegas. Amongst them :

Event #14. $1,500 H.O.R.S.E. :

The H.O.R.S.E. event was originally scheduled for the 28 players out of a starting field of 751 entrants to play down to six for the final day. Instead, the event almost ended on the third day stopping at the final head’s up between Jason Stockfish and Murilo Souza.

Event #15. $10.000 Heads-UP NL Championship :

Semi-finals are taking place today! For info, the final four already have amassed a combined six WSOP gold bracelets leading into the event with Ben Yu with three bracelets, Keith Lehr with two bracelets, and Cord Garcia with one. This leaves Sean Swingruber as the only player remaining in the hunt for his first bracelet.

Day 2 went deep in the money with just 23 players surviving led by Ken Aldridge with 1,178,000 in chips.

Event #19. $1,500 The Millionaire Maker No Limit Hold’em.

3,923 players were gathered on Day 1A of this event, which guarantees the winner to become a millionaire! We can logically expect a big influence on the Day 1B today with the beginning of the weekend, ideal for the Americans to go to Vegas to party, and gamble!

Anecdote of the day :

“A chip and a chair”, refers to the most extraordinary comeback in the history of the WSOP that took place in 1982. After losing his first bullet in a WSOP tournament, Jack Straus discovers a token of $500 under his pack of cigarettes while getting up from the table. He sits back down and finally wins the title of world champion singing: “If you have a chip and a chair you can win”
